Christen (Chris) Dillon is currently the music specialist at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary, a Ph.D. candidate in Music Education at the University of Kentucky, and is faculty for the University of Kentucky Dalcroze Institute. His research studies examine the intersection of music and motivation--specifically, how personal beliefs of music ability contribute to musical behavior. His dissertation examines pre-service music teachers' self-efficacy for teaching music in the elementary, choral, and instrumental classrooms. 

 

Chris has taught in public, private, and non-profit educational settings in Kentucky, New York City, and West Virginia. He has also taught at the University of Kentucky and West Virginia State University as both a teaching assistant and an adjunct instructor. Chris has been the recipient of a U.K. School of Music Academic Fellowship, is an invited guest lecturer specializing in elementary vocal technique as well as Orff Schulwerk and Dalcroze music instruction, and has presented research and practitioner workshops at national and international conferences.
